Wesham Memory Walk – September 17th

A big date coming up in the Wesham calendar ….. its almost Wesham Memory Walk day. This is a local event, growing year on year, that has helped raise thousands of pounds for the Alzheimer’s Society. More info below from the organiser, Kathryn 🙂 Please share !!!

Wesham Memory Walk was established in 2015 to raise money and awareness of dementia for the Alzheimer’s Society. People of all ages from the communities of Kirkham and Wesham can walk the scenic 5.5km with their families and friends around the lanes and streets of Wesham.

Starting at St Joseph’s the route meanders down Mowbreck Lane into Treales and then past the Boys’ Brigade into Kirkham via Memorial Way. Having crossed the Memorial Park, the route then follows the main road through
Kirkham and Wesham.

The success of Wesham Memory Walk has largely hinged upon the communities of Kirkham and Wesham where families, small businesses and the local public house unite together on (what has, so far, been) a glorious Sunday afternoon in September. The result has been turnouts of between 200 and 300 people and money raised to date of approximately £12,000.

This year’s walk falls on Sunday 17 th September, starting at 13.00 and the aim is to build upon the success of previous years. We urge anyone who has not yet participated to come along and soak up the atmosphere, bring their family, friends and dog and make a small contribution to the cause.

Anybody who would like to raise money through sponsorship can do so here:

And free sign-up for the walk can be found here:

We look forward to seeing everybody on 17th September!

Wesham Fun Day – June 10th – help us promote the day :)

This year we have decided not to put a flyer for Wesham Fun Day through everyone’s door. Instead the schools are giving a flyer to each of the local families, hopefully before the kids break up for half term. We are also putting larger flyers in shops, restaurants and anywhere else we can think of !

If you want to support the event then please help us promote it.

Maybe print off a flyer and stick it in your window ?
Share a Facebook status ?
Like a post ?
Tag a friend ?
Even just tell your friends

If you do want a flyer then message us and we will try to help

So much going on this year – we just need you all to turn up and have a great, local, day out !!

Allotment opportunities in Wesham !!

There are currently a couple of allotments in need of new carers and some much needed TLC.

Fancy growing your own veg ? Or flowers ? Need some more space ?

Rental is very reasonable. Please contact Jean Priestley on clerk@wesham.org.uk if you are interested.

Great opportunity as there is usually a waiting list for these …..

Wesham Club Day 2017 – help required

Wesham Club Day 2017 is approaching fast

Plans are well under way for a bigger event this year but we are now putting out a request for help from local businesses……

Our aim is to provide a Fun, Family Day. We are bringing in more things to see, things to do, inflatables, rides and we are providing variety of food and drink options.

In the past local businesses have asked what they can do to help and this year we have come up with a plan. Wouldn’t it be great for the kids to get free face painting, or free balloon models, or listen to free storytelling, or for kids to get prizes from the running-races ? For this we are looking for local businesses to step in and help sponsor part (or all !) of the event.

Its a non-profitmaking event. We have no “budget” but we want to put on the best event possible for the community.

So … if you own a local business, or work for a major multi-national, or anywhere in-between, and would like to support the event then you would have our eternal gratitude

Many thanks

The Club Day Committee
